Mehmet Çalışkan
(Emeritus Prof. Dr.), Founding Partner

Upon receiving his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from NCSU, Raleigh, NC/USA in 1983, Professor Çalışkan has served as a faculty member in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Middle East Technical University for 36 years before retiring in 2019.  Throughout the years he has involved in numerous academic and administrative positions including METU Vice President (1992-2000) for Administrative Affairs, assistant head of METU Mechanical Engineering Department (1988-1992). His contributions to the university and acoustics society are not limited with professional activities. He has been a volunteer academic advisor for various student clubs like METU American Football team, METU Falcons and Go Club of METU Students. He has been founder and board member of major social organizations as Radio METU (1994-2008). He has full memberships with Acoustical Society of America, Turkish Acoustical Society and Turkish Chamber of Mechanical Engineers.
 
Professor Çalışkan has been actively involved in research in the fields of architectural acoustics, engineering acoustics, noise control and random vibrations while pioneering education in related fields. He initiated and developed courses on acoustics, noise control engineering (ME432), architectural acoustics and random vibrations (ME520) for mechanical engineering and architecture curricula at METU. Acoustics and vibration being his major concentration, many different fields of mechanical engineering he served as an advisor for more than 80 masters and PhD theses combined. He is the founding partner of MEZZO Stüdyo Ltd. and currently supports the team from İstanbul branch office. Sharing of his valuable knowledge and expertise through various projects is the most honorable motivation for the MEZZO Stüdyo team.
