Zühre Sü Gül
(Assoc. Prof. Dr.), Founding Partner

With an enthusiasm of providing the world class acoustical consultancy services on the field of architectural acoustics and for contribution to the profession by academic research, Zühre co-founded the company in 2009 together with Prof. Çalışkan. Mezzo Stüdyo has later on embellished by a talented and productive team of architects, interior architects and mechanical engineers. In consequence, the company has become the first and currently only member of NCAC from Turkey. Over three-hundred projects completed in the last decade on architectural acoustics design -both national and international- comprising mostly but not least; room and building acoustics, mechanical noise and vibration control, together with ongoing research and scientific publications on acoustical materials and design methods/techniques R&D in relation to this applied science, the success stories and positive feedbacks from the clients and users are her major satisfactions.

To brief her academic background; Zühre received her BArch from METU (ODTÜ) Department of Architecture in 2002, MFA degree in Interior Architecture and Environmental Design from Bilkent University in 2004, MSc degree in Architectural Acoustics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), Troy, NY, USA, in 2006, and the PhD in Building Science from METU in 2015. She is concurrently a full-time faculty member at the Department of Architecture, Bilkent University, Ankara since 2018. Some of her research interests majorly under architectural acoustics are as follows; coupled spaces, historical acoustics, diffusion model in acoustical simulations, perception of reverberation, acoustical criteria for various building typologies, archaeoacoustics, sustainable acoustical materials, metamaterials and more. Her work has been published in highly reputable international scientific periodicals including the Journal of Acoustical Society of America, IEEE/ACM Transactions on Audio/Speech and Language Processing, Journal of Architectural Heritage, Journal of Computational Acoustics, Applied Acoustics, Acoustics Australia, Journal of Testing and Evaluation, Architectural Science Review, Building Acoustics and Journal Acoustics. She is a Full Member of Acoustical Society of America (ASA), Turkish Acoustical Society (TAKDER), and Turkish Chamber of Architects (TMMOB).

On the personal side, her upmost interests are her son Manas and her daughter Su, for whom all the spare time is allocated for. Other than that, being an ex-licensed swimmer and record holder, she mostly enjoys doing as many types of sports as possible as time and kids allow.
